Chef and kitchen staff hire across Glasgow through our national live-in bench plus visiting chefs from Liverpool and Manchester. Hotels, restaurants, events, contract catering, care, schools. Full PAYE, DBS / PVG for regulated settings.

We do not have a physical office in Glasgow. The honest serving model is a live-in chef bench plus visiting chefs from our Liverpool team. The 2-hour response commitment we hold in central London, Manchester, and Liverpool does not apply here. The realistic Glasgow window is 24 to 48 hours.

How we serve Glasgow

Glasgow hospitality, honestly served

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and the country's busiest hospitality market: roughly 600,000 people in the city and 1.8 million across the metropolitan area. The hotel and restaurant clusters in the West End, Merchant City, and Finnieston run year-round at high occupancy; TRNSMT brings 50,000 attendees a day to Glasgow Green every July; the SEC and OVO Hydro book major events across the calendar; Celtic Park and Ibrox draw cup-tie crowds that hospitality staff have to scale to inside a week.

Chefs Bay does not have a physical office in Glasgow. The honest serving model is a national live-in chef bench plus visiting chefs from our Liverpool team for shorter placements. The Liverpool office takes the call, runs compliance paperwork, and confirms the placement. Travel time by road from Liverpool to central Glasgow sits at roughly 3.5 hours, which is too far for a daily commute and is exactly why the live-in framing matters: chefs travel to Glasgow with accommodation arranged for the duration of the booking, return home between rotations, and are paid travel-inclusive day rates.

Every chef we send into a care home, school, or nursery setting in the Greater Glasgow area holds Enhanced DBS with the relevant Barred List check (or PVG, the Scottish equivalent for protected adult work) before the first shift. Chefs for hospitality, contract catering, and events sites hold Right to Work and Level 2 Food Safety as a baseline. All Chefs Bay workers are employed on full PAYE, no umbrella companies, no self-employment shortcuts. We will open a Scottish office once Glasgow and Edinburgh booking volumes justify the overhead, and not before.

Live-in chef bench

How live-in chef cover works for Glasgow operators

The model that lets us cover Glasgow without a local office: chefs travelling for the season with accommodation provided.

Best fit

Hotel head chef and sous chef cover for placements of four weeks or longer. Country house wedding-season hire (May to September). Festival and event peak weeks (TRNSMT, SEC programming, cup runs). Care home and contract catering placements that need eight-to-twelve week consistency.

How rates work

Travel-inclusive day rates are agreed at the moment of booking. Mileage at HMRC rates, accommodation arrangement (provided by the venue or arranged through us), and on-site living allowance are all priced into the day rate. The quote is the invoice. No surprise charges added after the chef arrives.

For shorter Glasgow bookings (1 to 3 weeks), see the emergency chef cover page — Glasgow sits in the 24 to 48 hour response window. For festival and event volume, the 8-week festival planner walks through what realistic timelines look like.

FAQ

Hospitality agency Glasgow: common questions

Do you have a Glasgow office?

No. We do not have a physical office in Glasgow. We serve the city through a national live-in chef bench plus visiting chefs from our Liverpool and Manchester teams for shorter placements. Booking and compliance paperwork runs from our Liverpool office. We would rather tell you this up front than fake a local presence to win a search-engine click.

How does live-in chef cover work for Glasgow?

For placements of four weeks or longer, we deploy chefs from our national bench who travel to Glasgow with accommodation provided by you or arranged by us. The chef stays on site or in nearby lodging for the duration of the booking, returns home between rotations, and is paid travel-inclusive day rates. This is the standard staffing model for hotels in the West End and country house venues outside the city, and it is more reliable than commuting a chef 3.5 hours each way for short shifts.

How quickly can you supply chefs in Glasgow?

For planned bookings of two weeks or more, we confirm a named chef inside 48 hours of brief receipt. For emergency or same-day cover in Glasgow, the realistic window is 24 to 48 hours, because we do not hold a 2-hour central bench in Scotland yet. For very short notice, we will tell you on the call whether a placement is achievable in your timeframe rather than promising and missing.

Which areas of Glasgow do you cover?

Our chef bench reaches Glasgow City Centre, Merchant City, the West End (Hyde Park / Hillhead / Kelvinbridge), Finnieston, the East End (around Celtic Park and the Barrowlands), and the South Side (Pollokshields, Shawlands, Govanhill). For venues outside the city in Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, or Ayrshire, ring us to confirm whether the bench can reach you on the day you need cover.

Are your Glasgow chefs DBS-checked and PAYE compliant?

Every chef we send into a care home, school, or nursery setting holds Enhanced DBS with the relevant Barred List check before the first shift. Chefs for hospitality, contract catering, and event sites hold Right to Work and Level 2 Food Safety as a baseline, with DBS or PVG on request for regulated settings (Scotland uses PVG rather than DBS for protected adult work, and we hold the equivalent paperwork on chefs assigned to those settings). All Chefs Bay workers are employed on full PAYE. No umbrella companies, no self-employment workarounds.

Do you cover TRNSMT, the SEC, or other Glasgow festivals and events?

Yes. Glasgow event coverage is a real use case for the live-in bench, because event clusters (TRNSMT in July, the SEC and OVO Hydro across the calendar, Hampden Park internationals, Celtic and Rangers cup runs) need 5-30 chefs for two-to-six week deployments. Operators booking eight to twelve weeks ahead of the event get the deepest bench. For last-minute event cover, our 8-week festival planner walks through what realistic looks like.

Why serve Glasgow from Liverpool rather than opening a Scottish office?

Booking volume from Glasgow is real but not yet large enough to justify the overhead of a physical Scottish office with a permanent local team. The live-in bench plus Liverpool-based booking and compliance gives operators a working model now, while we build Scottish booking volume to a level that supports a local opening. We will be straight about this rather than open a notional office at a Glasgow address with no real chefs on the ground.
